5 Surprising Ways CBD Products May Help With Medical Conditions

Many people believe that CBD products can help with problems like acne or sleep – but new research is pointing to even bigger potential benefits of using cannabidiol. In fact, CBD might be able to help with symptom management for certain medical conditions.

As CBD is increasingly recognized as a legitimate, legal resource in America, we’re excited to see more users embrace its potential. Today, we’re already seeing users and researchers discussing using CBD products for pain management and other medical conditions.

1. Short-Term or Chronic Pain

First and foremost, we need to talk about using CBD products for pain. More and more users are turning to cannabidiol oils, edibles, and lotions to help alleviate feelings of achiness, soreness, and discomfort.

According to the National Centers for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), there’s real evidence pointing toward the modest benefits of using CBD for pain relief. Additionally, a review in 2020 reported that CBD could relieve pain and reduce inflammation in certain medical conditions.

Although the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not officially approved CBD for treating pain, research continues to support the fact that CBD oil may serve as a potential treatment for:

  • Neuropathic pain
  • Arthritic pain
  • Multiple sclerosis pain
  • Short-term injury pain
  • Chronic aches and pains

In 2021, researchers found that 59% of the CBD users they surveyed reported that the products helped with their pain. Up to 67.6% stated that the products allowed them to reduce the use of their pain medications.

Although CBD does not necessarily have the same effect on every user, this does indicate a possible link between CBD and pain relief.

At Foliage Wellness, we’ve heard many testimonies from customers who used CBD body creams or oils to help reduce inflammation, discomfort, and soreness. We’re firm believers that cannabidiol can help people with both short and long-term discomfort, and we’ll continue to keep up with the latest research on CBD products for pain.

2. Cancer-Related Discomfort

Most of us have known someone who suffered from cancer-related pain, triggered either by the cancer itself or its treatments. When cancer patients undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatment, they may experience:

  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Sore mouths
  • Lost appetite
  • Sleep problems
  • Stress and anxiety disorders

In recent years, research has suggested that cannabidiol’s anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties can potentially help cancer patients manage their symptoms. While no studies to date have specifically proven the validity of using CBD treatment for cancer, many people with cancer have reported experiencing less discomfort while taking CBD.

Even MD Anderson Cancer Center stated that using CBD for cancer symptoms “may be helpful for nausea and vomiting and anorexia, as well as neuropathy, anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

Our Foliage Wellness products are not tailored to cancer-symptom management or treatment, but they are designed to help people pursue full-body wellness. This includes minimizing feelings of stress, anxiety, and insomnia.

3. Anxiety and Stress

Not all medical conditions are visible to the naked eye – but that doesn’t make them any less real or painful. Anxiety and stress disorders are still viewed as true medical conditions that require treatment and management.

Many people claim to use CBD for anxiety and stress management. This is largely because CBD interacts with the cannabinoid type 1 receptor, the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor, and other receptors in the human brain that regulate anxiety-induced behaviors.

Preclinical and clinical evidence has also established that CBD may be an effective treatment for several types of anxiety disorders, including:

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Panic disorder (PD)
  • Social anxiety disorder (SAD)

Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD doesn’t induce feelings of intoxication or the “high” associated with other cannabinoids. Instead, it is simply thought to interact with neurotransmitters, including serotonin, that play a monumental role in our mental health.

At Foliage Wellness, our CBD oils for stress are designed from all-organic compounds to help the body quickly absorb cannabidiol. Ultimately, we want to help our users achieve a balance with their stress so that they may lead happier, less anxious lives.

4. High Blood Pressure

While we’re on the topic of mental stress, we should mention that research also indicates CBD may have vasodilatory effects in human arteries. In other words, CBD could potentially improve blood flow through widened blood vessels, which may help lower high blood pressure levels.

There are many things that can contribute to high blood pressure, including stress. By using CBD products on a regular basis, it’s possible that users may feel less stressed and thereby lower their risk of high blood pressure (hypertension).

In doing so, they may also lower their risk for other health conditions, such as:

  • Strokes
  • Heart attacks
  • Metabolic syndrome

In 2020, a study on 26 healthy men found that treatment with 600mg of CBD for one week led to significant reductions in blood pressure when compared to the placebo group. However, the effect was lost after seven days, which indicates the need to consistently use CBD for high blood pressure.

Our goal at Foliage Wellness is not only to create clean, high-quality CBD products, but also to help users easily incorporate them into their everyday lives. From cannabidiol gummies to skincare products, all of our items are designed to fit into your normal routines.

5. Epilepsy

Lastly, we want to share recent studies that indicate CBD can help with some seizure activity and a form of epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). CBD is actually officially approved to treat seizures caused by two rare forms of epilepsy, as well as tuberous sclerosis complex.

Seizures are triggered by changes in the electrical activity of the human brain. Because CBD interacts with receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system, it’s thought that it could also help regulate bodily functions and electrical activity. It’s also possible that CBD may reduce neuro excitability by acting on GPr55 and TRPV1 receptors.

Currently, a highly purified cannabidiol oral solution called Epidiolex has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat two rare and severe forms of epilepsy, as well as Lennox- Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. This is the first FDA approval for a drug to treat Dravet syndrome.

The American Epilepsy Society stated that when this pharmaceutical formulation of CBD was used, patients experienced:

  • Reduced seizure frequency
  • Improved emotional functioning
  • Better cognition and communication
